Monthly Genealogy Group

The Senior Resource Center and the Stephenson County Genealogical Society are pleased to announce the MONTHLY GENEALOGY GROUP, held the FIRST Thursday of each month (except for holidays) from 1:00 to 2:30pm at the Senior Center Activities Center!

Come each meeting to discuss your genealogy issues with others who may be able to provide guidance you might not have considered or help others with avenues they hadn’t yet traveled. Get the experience of many genealogists (without the cost!) and break through those barriers to your hidden ancestors.

The group will be led by professional genealogist, Terry Feinberg and History Room guru, Nancy Rutter.

There is no fee for joining in this program.  Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 6th, 1-2:30p at the Senior Center.

JUNE Membership Meeting

SCGS JUNE Membership Meeting

Thursday June 6, 2019

Freeport Public Library

TIME  6:00pm to 8:00pm     Meeting Room A (1st Floor)

The next meeting for SCGS will be Thursday, May 2, 2019.
We will start the evening with some SCGS business.  Two topics up for vote (1) the purchase of a laptop for Volunteers in History Room to aid in indexing and maintaining inventory information.
(2) Change Membership Meetings to be quarterly – in March, June, September and December – the first Thursday – in the afternoon, 1pm to 3pm.  We will open the floor for a short discussion of additional date/time suggestions prior to the vote.
After these discussion items, the members are invited to come across the hall to the History Room for some share, learn and research time.  As not every one is able to make it into the History Room very often, we want to make the most of your trip to the Library and encourage you to bring your research work and get some help/guidance from the Volunteers that will be available.  Also, if you haven’t already, we can help you with the use of the newer microfilm reader and our new scanner.
